About The Author

Dr. Debashis Biswas was born in North Bengal on 10 November 1961. He obtained his Master’s degree in Zoology (specialising in Entomology) and his PhD on Aedes aegypti, the primary dengue vector, from the University of Calcutta.
An entomologist by profession, Dr. Biswas served the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for over three decades, contributing extensively to vector-borne disease control and public health programmes.
He is the author of 14 books, including the bestselling Masha, and has written more than 100 articles and stories for leading newspapers and magazines. He has also published 45 research papers in national and international scientific journals.
In 2004, he received the Dr. Gopal Chandra Bhattacharya Memorial Award for his book Masha. In 2026, he was honoured with the Golden Wings Book Award for Pangs of an Entomologist.
