Description
This story is about a poor boy who had neither a roof over his head nor light to study at night. During the day, he sat under the shade of a neem tree, fixing his eyes on books and studying with deep dedication. At night, he depended on the light of the moon. Even when hunger tormented him, his passion for education never faded. Hunger never became an obstacle; he would tightly tie a cloth around his empty stomach and drink plenty of water before going to sleep.
Perhaps nature could not bear to see his poverty. At the age of eighteen, he secured a job. His parents were filled with surprise and pride. Soon, his fame spread across the region, and his days of poverty began to fade. The boy whom no one once noticed now received many marriage proposals. He married a poor girl without dowry and left his wife at home to take care of his elderly parents.
Along with his job, he continued his studies, completed his graduation, and appeared for the Public Service Commission examination. Without any coaching, he cleared the exam in his very first attempt and was selected as an IPS officer on merit. He resigned from his earlier job, choosing the path of service and sacrifice.
He never forgot his days of poverty and became a god-like figure for the poor and a thorn in the eyes of the rich. His popularity grew rapidly. The poor considered him a blessing sent from heaven, while the wealthy united to demand his transfer. When the poor staged protests, the transfer was cancelled.
He lived without security, traveled alone, and used a bicycle as his main mode of transport. The powerful tried to plot his murder. The neem tree under which he once studied always remained close to his heart. He worshipped it and organized a community feast twice a year, believing that the knowledge he gained under its shade was a divine blessing.
Once, during such a feast, the sons of local strongmen attacked him, but a bullet struck the neem tree instead. He survived, and from the tree emerged a mysterious power that killed the attackers. One attacker was courageously caught by a girl, who revealed the entire conspiracy. From that day onward, the neem tree became even more sacred.
Later, the powerful tried another tactic and abducted his wife. He learned about it through people close to him who secretly worked for money. Enraged, he took action, eliminated the criminals, rescued his wife, and ensured all culprits were sent to jail. Through these events, he earned even greater recognition as an honest and fearless officer, performing his duties with pride and integrity.
