Description
The book meticulously details twenty-seven years of struggle, showcasing a young woman trapped in an exhausting cycle of quiet rebellion and inevitable defeat. Each attempt to stand up for herself, is met with explosive anger, emotional blackmail, or cold, cutting disapproval that leaves her feeling shattered and defeated. She is constantly reminded that her role is to marry into a reputable family chosen by her parents, not to build a life defined by her own talents or desires. The narrative brilliantly captures the asphyxiating atmosphere of this environment, where the four walls of their house become a prison, fortified by the invisible bars of old-fashioned and orthodox thoughts.
