About The Book
The research thesis calculates the chronology from the Mahabharata War to the reign of Harshavardhana. The determination of dates is based on scriptural evidence, archaeological evidence, and astronomical evidence. On the basis of all these sources, it has been established that the Kali Yuga commenced in 3102 BCE and that the Mahabharata War took place in 3138 BCE.
In the course of this study, the dates of important historical personalities from the Mahabharata period up to Harshavardhana have also been determined on the basis of available evidence. The thesis further critically examines and challenges the dating of Chandragupta Maurya as established by British scholars on the basis of Megasthenes’ Indica.
About The Author:
Dr. Akhilesh Chandra Sharma was born in 1955 in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. His mother’s name is Smt. Dulari Devi and his father’s name is Pandit Banarasi Das Sharma of village Rampur. He completed his education up to intermediate at the Agricultural College, Hapur; obtained his bachelor’s degree from Amar Singh College, Lakhawati (Bulandshahr) in 1976; and passed his postgraduate examination from Janta Vedic College, Badod (Baraut) in 1978. He earned a Ph.D. in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Meerut University, Meerut. After serving for many years at the first-class level in the Government of Madhya Pradesh, he has been working for the past 25 years as Director of Research at Malwa Seeds Pvt. Ltd., Indore.
For nearly 40 years he has been delivering lectures on Sanatan Dharma at schools, colleges, and various institutions. He promotes Sanatan Dharma through social media, different channels, and by participating in national and international seminars. His articles have also been published in various newspapers and magazines. In 2012 he was invited to deliver a lecture at the World Veda Conference held in Ujjain. To promote Indian culture he has given his time and support to various social organizations such as Arya Samaj, Sanatan Aryavart Sangathan, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha, Sabhyata Adhyayan Kendra (Delhi), and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, among others. His objective is to continue promoting Sanatan Dharma until his last breath. His 2021 research work, “Vishva Sabhyataon ka Janak: Bharat” (India: The Progenitor of World Civilizations), received acclaim in the scholarly community. His latest research monograph, “Kalgannana from the Mahabharata to Harshavardhana,” is currently under publication. He is presently serving as the President of the Oriental Knowledge Research Committee, Indore.
