Description
About The Book
Depression and Alternative Therapy presents a comprehensive and holistic understanding of depression from biological, psychological, social, behavioural, and spiritual perspectives. It explores the nature, causes, symptoms, risk factors, diagnosis, and clinical forms of depression while moving beyond a purely medical approach. The book examines the role of complementary and alternative approaches such as yoga, meditation, mindfulness, Ayurveda, nutrition, physical activity, lifestyle modification, positive thinking, spirituality, and mind–body practices. It highlights how these approaches may support stress regulation, emotional balance, self-awareness, resilience, sleep, and overall well-being. Emphasizing an integrated and evidence-informed approach, the book encourages responsible use of alternative therapies alongside conventional care. It is intended for students, psychologists, counsellors, yoga practitioners, researchers, educators, therapists, and general readers interested in holistic mental well-being.
