Description
The book “ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY: CONCEPTS AND TECHNIQUES” has been designed to provide a clear understanding of the fundamental principles of chemistry applied in engineering and technology. It is written in simple, precise language and organized according to the latest university syllabus to meet the academic needs of undergraduate students.
The book covers five major units – Water Treatment, Fuels and Lubricants, Electrochemistry, Instrumental Methods of Analysis, and Engineering Materials. Each unit includes detailed explanations of basic concepts, supported by diagrams, solved examples, and numerical problems wherever applicable. The emphasis is placed on the practical and industrial applications of chemical principles to help students connect theory with real-world processes.
Special attention has been given to presenting topics such as fuel analysis, water purification methods, instrumental techniques like spectroscopy and chromatography, and advanced materials including polymers and composites. The text also highlights recent developments in renewable energy sources and environmental sustainability, aligning with modern engineering practices.
At the end of each unit, review questions and key points are provided to reinforce understanding and aid in examination preparation. This book serves as a comprehensive guide not only for students of engineering and applied sciences but also for professionals seeking foundational knowledge in chemical technology and material science.
