Description
“Awakened Essence: My journey Of Awakening From Doing To Being is an inspiring and transformative memoir that goes far beyond storytelling. It is a living testament to courage, compassion, resilience, and spiritual awakening-a journey that reveals how one life, rooted in service, can touch countless others.
At its surface, this is the personal journey of Nandini Gupta. Yet as readers immerse themselves in its pages, they soon realize that this is also their journey: the universal search for meaning beyond material success. With unflinching honesty and heartfelt reflection, the author invites us into her world-her childhood marked by discipline and simplicity, her college years of quiet determination, her early marriage and the weight of family responsibilities, her entrepreneurial courage in building businesses from scratch, and her rise as a pioneer in the fitness and slimming industry.
But her story does not end with professional success. On the contrary, it begins there. Despite recognition, fame, and financial independence, Nandini felt an emptiness-an inner voice urging her toward something greater. That inner call led her to establish Sarv Sahyog: The Better Nation Society NGO, through which she touched the lives of orphans, senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, women trapped in domestic struggles, and children yearning for education. Her service extended far beyond material aid-it became about restoring dignity, instilling hope, and offering compassion to those forgotten by society.
The book also explores her bold foray into politics, a sphere she entered not for power or recognition, but to extend her reach of service. As Ward President and later in state-level leadership roles, she tackled real issues-roads riddled with potholes, streets left in darkness, families without water, youth without opportunities. Through her lens, politics is not a game of power, but a responsibility of stewardship. Readers see how genuine leadership is not measured by titles, but by the lives transformed in silence.
Perhaps the most moving sections of this book are her accounts of the global pandemic. When the world retreated into fear and isolation, Nandini stepped forward. She and her team prepared and distributed meals to families who would otherwise have starved, arranged oxygen cylinders and concentrators when lives hung by a thread, secured hospital beds during the chaos of the second wave, and even provided protective equipment for sanitation workers whom society overlooked. In those uncertain days, her service was not a choice-it was a calling. Her narrative captures the raw humanity of those moments: the quiet dignity of leaving food at a doorstep, the desperation of families searching for oxygen, the relief in a mother’s eyes when her child survived.
This book is long, rich, and layered. But its essence can be distilled into timeless truths:
• Success without purpose is hollow; true fulfilment comes from service.
• Leadership without compassion is meaningless; true leadership begins with empathy.
• Spirituality is not found in rituals or recognition, but in the courage to let go of glamour and embrace one’s inner essence.
• Every individual-no matter their age, gender, or background-has the power to awaken and create ripples of change.
What makes “Awakened Essence” exceptional is its balance of vulnerability and strength. The author does not hide her insecurities, failures, or moments of fear. Instead, she shares them with raw honesty-making her story not one of perfection, but of perseverance. And in doing so, she builds a bridge of trust with her readers. We do not just admire her journey; we walk alongside her, learning, reflecting, and awakening with her.
This memoir is more than inspiration-it is a guide for living. For students, it shows that discipline and sincerity lay the foundation of greatness. For women, it is a testimony that responsibilities and dreams can coexist, and that barriers can be broken with courage. For professionals, it is a reminder that ambition must be balanced with purpose. For leaders, it is a lesson that service is the highest form of leadership. And for every human being, it is a call to awaken-to listen to that quiet inner voice that longs for something deeper than glamour.
In a world obsessed with outward success, image, and recognition, this book offers a refreshing and necessary perspective: that life’s greatest reward is not applause, but the silent blessing of a life touched, a smile restored, a community uplifted.
“Awakened Essence: My journey of Self Realization from Doing to Being” is not simply the story of Nandini Gupta-it is an invitation. An invitation to rise above the noise of glamour, to rediscover our own essence, and to embrace the spirit of service that alone brings peace, fulfilment, and a lasting legacy.
This is a book that will stay with you long after the last page is turned-not as a memory of someone else’s journey, but as the spark that awakens your own.
About The Author
Nandini Gupta is an entrepreneur, social worker, political leader, and humanitarian whose life reflects the power of transformation and service. She was born into a humble middle-class family, yet her upbringing instilled in her values of resilience, empathy, and sincerity that would later guide every chapter of her journey. From a shy, introverted student to a celebrated professional, from a homemaker balancing family responsibility to a social activist and political leader-her story demonstrates how ordinary beginnings can lead to extraordinary impact when guided by purpose.
Her professional life began with creativity and determination. What started as designing clothes as a hobby soon turned into a boutique business that won the trust of elite clients. Later, her passion for fitness led her to establish Shape-Up Fitness & Slimming Zone, where she became a pioneer in introducing non-surgical slimming treatments in North India. Her work drew recognition not just from clients across India but also from international visitors. She rose from a homemaker experimenting in her living room to a respected professional featured in newspapers, television channels, and magazines.
Yet, professional success alone could not fill the void she felt within. Guided by a deeper calling, she shifted her focus towards humanitarian service. Through her NGO, Sarv Sahyog: The Better Nation Society, She launched projects for orphans, senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, women facing domestic violence, and underprivileged children. Her initiatives included education support, medical assistance, distribution of essentials, counselling, environmental campaigns, and empowerment programs-each effort rooted in compassion and sincerity.
Her natural leadership drew her into politics, where she served as Ward President and later took up state-level responsibilities. She worked tirelessly to address civic issues such as sanitation, road safety, street lighting, clean water supply, and education for underprivileged children. Her political career was never about power or position-it was about extending her reach to serve people on a larger scale.
During the global pandemic, her work reached new heights. While many were confined at home, she and her team prepared and distributed meals, provided oxygen concentrators and hospital beds, supplied protective gear to sanitation workers, and organized counselling for patients in isolation. Recognized as a true “Corona Warrior,” she received honours from senior government officials, yet she continued to emphasize that service is not about recognition but about saving lives and restoring dignity.
Her life has been celebrated with numerous awards for fitness innovation, environmental protection, social service, and political leadership. But beyond all the accolades, she remains deeply spiritual, guided by the belief that “the greatest happiness is found in selfless service.”
Today, Nandini Gupta stands as a role model for women, leaders, and changemakers. She embodies the idea that success is not measured by wealth or fame but by the positive impact we leave behind. Her journey continues to inspire readers worldwide to rise above glamour, embrace inner strength, and dedicate themselves to a higher purpose.
